Caregiver support and coaching
Providing Everything You Need to Recover Strong
What does it mean to be a Caregiver?
A caregiver is a person who provides support and assistance to people who are unable to perform daily tasks due to illness, disability, or age. Caregivers can be family members or professionals, and they can offer medical, emotional, and practical support. Caregivers can help people live safely and comfortably, and they can help people stay in their homes instead of moving into assisted living or nursing homes.
Caregivers can perform a variety of tasks, including:
-
Household chores: Cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes, watering plants, and doing laundry
-
Personal care: Bathing, grooming, and assistance with walking
-
Transportation: Driving people to and from appointments and running errands
-
Meal preparation: Cooking meals and dispensing medicines
-
Medication management: Monitoring and reconciling medications to ensure patients receive the desired outcomes
-
Communication: Communicating with medical staff
Caregiving can be a time-consuming and challenging task that requires empathy, patience, and a lot of energy. Caregivers may feel anger or frustration, especially when caring for someone who is combative or doesn't accept help. Caregivers may also feel "on call" 24 hours a day, so it's important for them to take care of their own physical and mental health so they can provide the best care possible.
